Dear Students, Colleagues and Puppeteers

We would like to inform you that the first Mobarak UNIMA International Puppet festival of Youth and Students will take place from 7 – 13 June 2015, in Tehran, Iran.

Recommended Themes:

Peace: Making peace with nature, with human beings and with language.

The Culture of Citizenship: Individual rights, Collective rights and reducing consumption.

Aims:

1- Promoting peace and friendship by young puppeteers

2- Providing motivations for puppetry students

3- Providing an atmosphere for developing empathy and synergy between puppetry students and all puppetry lovers.

4- Developing a proper context for  growth and improvement of all puppetry techniques

5- Providing a situation for being seen and talent discovery

6- Guiding and supporting the received works for their improvement

7- Studying performing rules and methods to leave behind the obstacles in the realm of puppet theatre

8- Considering the recycling consumable objects as a critical social action in human beings’ life (Specially paper and objects made with paper; as we believe a sheet of paper is part of a tree life)

The first edition performing technique: Paper Theatre

Paper Theatre, also called Toy theatre and model theatre, is a form of miniature theatre dating back to the early 19th century in Europe. Toy theaters were often printed on paperboard sheets and sold as kits at the concession stand of an opera house, playhouse, or vaudeville theater. Toy theaters were assembled at home and performed for family members and guests, sometimes with live musical accompaniment …” (Wikipedia)

This technique includes two parts: (A) two dimensional paper or paperboard characters (B) three dimensional puppets made with paper or its derivatives.

Different parts of the Festival include:

(1) Indoor Performances

A. Students Performances

B. International Performances

C. Masters and University Lecturers Performances

(2) Outdoor Performances (performances with PEACE themes)

(3) Educational Workshops Regarding Paper Theatre

 

- The Festival Organizer does not cover the flight expenses but will cover meals, accommodation and local transport during the festival.

 

- The applicants should send their resume (curriculum vitae) via e-mail and/or by post no later than 20 April 2015, together with full-length recording of their suggested performance /CD, DVD or web-link/, digital photos of the show and full technical rider and requirements.
